Chelsea vs Everton
Premier League : Matchday 8
Date : 15. October 2011
Stadium : Stamford Bridge, London

After thrashing Bolton at the Reebok in their last fixture, Andre Villas-Boas’ men gear up to host an Everton side that will be looking for redemption after suffering a loss at home at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool. The Blues currently lie 3rd in the table, with 16 points after 7 games while Everton are languishing in the bottom half in 13th place, with just 7 points from their 6 games. Chelsea will be looking to win at home and inch closer to their rivals for the title, Manchester United and Manchester City, while Everton will want to get back to winning ways against one the giants of the league.

The last time these two sides met at Stamford Bridge, a draw was played out with a late goal from Jermaine Beckford cancelling out Didier Drogba’s opener. The return leg saw the Toffees emerge victorious, despite being a man down for the majority of the second half, with a lone goal from Beckford earning them all three points.

Andre Villas-Boas is unlikely to tinker with his side after their performance against Bolton and the two pronged attack is likely to feature Didier Drogba and the in-form Daniel Sturridge. Hat-trick hero Frank Lampard and Raul Meireles can be expected to start at the centre of the field, with Juan Mata and Ramires flanking them. The defence will have John Terry at the centre alongside David Luiz, with Jose Bosingwa and Ashley Cole deployed on the right and left side respectively.

Everton are also likely to field a 4-4-2 formation, with a defence comprising of Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin at the centre and Leighton Baines and Tony Hibbert flanking them. Jack Rodwell will retain his place in the midfield alongside Marouane Fellaini, while Leon Osman and Seamus Coleman will be deployed out wide. Louis Saha can be expected to be handed a start again, with Tim Cahill operating just behind him.
