Tottenham Hotspur - Arsenal
Premier League : Matchday 7
Date : 02. October 2011 - 16:00 GMT
Stadium : White Hart Lane (London)
After a brief scare in their 3-1 win against Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night, Tottenham are likely to field a much changed side against deadly rivals Arsenal on Sunday. Harry Redknapp rested players for his team's Europa League engagement, including Emmanuel Adebayor, who looks set to be the centre of attention against his old side. He scored eight in nine games for Arsenal against Spurs - will he be able to recapture that form having crossed the divide in North London ?
Three games between the two sides last season yielded sixteen goals, four of them penalties, and so this fixture looks set to deliver both goals and controversy. Both sides have conceded rather more freely than they would have intended this season, with Spurs conceding five against Manchester City and Arsenal an incredible eight against Manchester United. A fit again Robin Van Persie has lead the goalscoring for Arsenal so far this season, and has four in four Premier League starts against Tottenham.
For Arsenal Walcott and Benayoun are close to being fit but Vermaelen, Djourou, Gervinho, Squillaci and Diaby look likely to miss out, while Jack Wilshire looks set to be on the sidelines until next year. Tottenham's injury worries are almost as severe, with Gallas, Dawson and Huddlestone out and Kranjcar, Lennon and Pienaar unlikely to be able to play the full 90 minutes.
Possible Line-Ups :
Tottenham Hotspur : Cudicini - Bassong, Corluka, Walker, Lennon - Rose, Livermore, Carroll, Pavlyucenko - Dos Santos, Defoe.
Arsenal : Szczęsny - Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs - Arteta, Song, Benayoun, van Persie - Walcott, Gervinho.
