. West Brom vs Liverpool
Premier League : 10. Round
Date : 29. October 2011
Stadium : The Hawthorns, West Bromwich

With one loss in their last five games, Roy Hodgson’s men will be brimming with confidence. Their attack especially looks to be clicking and will be a potent threat, especially since Liverpool always look prone to conceding. However, one of the brightest players for them this season, Shane Long, is out for six weeks with a knee injury and that will considerably weaken their attack, especially since he was their top scorer so far with 3 goals. Striker Peter Odemwingie’s importance will therefore increase for the Baggies and he will need to be on the top of his game if his side are to come away with anything from this game.
West Brom are also well organised at the back, and it will be interesting to see how they cope with Liverpool’s attack, especially the Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. The full backs will also need to be careful, as Stewart Downing is blessed with pace and can cause trouble during counters.
West Brom though have a relatively clean bill of health, with the aforementioned Shane Long a certainty to miss the game and midfielder Graham Dorrans also doubtful due to a knee injury.

Although the Reds are undefeated in their last five games, they have managed to win only 3 of them. Going forward, Liverpool have looked good, but have failed to convert the half chances on numerous occasions which will be a major cause for worry for them.
As usual striker Luis Suarez will be crucial for the Reds and he does look to be in good touch, especially after his brace in the Carling Cup against Stoke. Talismanic captain Steven Gerrard will also have a big part to play if Liverpool are to win away from home. He was not exactly at his best against Norwich and much will be expected from him.
A big plus for Liverpool will be the return of Lucas from suspension. He will offer some much needed cover for the back four and will make life tough for West Brom’s midfielders with his closing down.
Liverpool though will need to tighten things up at the back. Clean sheets have been very hard to come by for Pepe Reina and with the likes of Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique more adept at attacking than defending, wingers Jerome Thomas and Chris Brunt could prove to be extremely baleful.
