On Friday, 7th October at 21:30 (CET), Andorra will host the Republic of Ireland at the Estadi Comunal for Euro 2012 Group B qualification. The visitors have slipped behind in Group B and will hope to perform in a highly-favourable chance to pick up points.
The Andorran national team remains bottom of the table after a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Macedonia FYR in September. The away team held off the hosts until the 50th minute when Mirko Ivanovski finally broke the deadlock. At home this qualifying campaign, Andorra have not been able to score yet and will look to break that streak when Republic of Ireland comes visiting. The Estadi Comunal has a capacity of just 1299 spectators, but is the site where the small country held Slovakia to 0-1 and Russia to 0-2.
Ireland missed their chance to overtake Group B leaders Russia in last round's meeting in Moscow. The 0-0 draw kept the table as is - Russia at 17 points, Ireland at 15, and Slovakia and Armenia tied on 14 points. Russia have a difficult encounter in Bratislava on Friday, so Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni will need to take all three points in Andorra. There will be just one match to follow and a win here could very well determine who takes the spoils in Group B.
